Landscape of Icy Blue
Artist: H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III
From the blue charm of an ink-and-wash painting, it is not difficult to see the level of an artist’s accomplishment and talent. This painting called “Landscape of Icy Blue” may seem simple. However, after one attempts to copy it, one will know how deep it truly is. The mountains and trees were painted in the same watery ink color as the sky. Wondrous charm flows within the surreal depictions. The attractive theme and colors fuse naturally an integral whole. Each touch of the brush was applied without the slightest mental attachment. The artist’s mind captured the spirit of the painting, which is manifested in the image. One can see the distinct differences between dense ink and light coloring, all accomplished without any sign of artificiality. The interplay of the real and the surreal together with unexpected variations produce a charming effect throughout the entire painting. This artwork provides the viewer with aesthetic enjoyment due to its free, other-worldly, dreamy tone.
